Our Approach

Our approach is rooted in play-based learning combined with Montessori principles, creating a child-centered environment where exploration, discovery, and independence drive early development.

Play Based Learning at Tiny Vines Nursery

Play is at the heart of learning, fostering essential skills that support lifelong growth.

Our space is organized with purposeful materials that encourage exploration and learning. Toys and activities are rotated regularly to sustain interest and maintain order.

We provide opportunities for:

  • Child-Led Exploration – Encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and independence.

  • Guided Play with Montessori Principles– Offering purposeful materials that deepen engagement.

  • Uninterrupted Focus – Giving children the time and space to concentrate, explore, and develop confidence.

Developmental Benefits

  • Cognitive Growth – Early literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving.

  • Social & Emotional Development – Empathy, cooperation, and self-regulation.

  • Physical Skills – Strengthening both fine and gross motor abilities.

Play Experiences

  • Independent Play – Child-driven engagement with thoughtfully selected materials.

  • Sensory Play – Hands-on exploration with natural and textured materials.

  • Creative Play – Encouraging expression through art, music, and imaginative activities.

  • Outdoor Play – Daily opportunities for fresh air, movement, and nature exploration.

Developmental Activities

Indoor Activities

  • Age-Appropriate Engagement – A variety of toys, books, and music that encourage exploration and creativity.

  • Non-Mobile Infants – Nurturing playtime with tummy time, soft books, textured balls, and interactive bonding experiences.

  • Life Skills – Toddlers begin learning simple, hands-on skills like mixing in a bowl, wiping messes, and adding laundry to a basket to build independence.

  • Screen-Free Entertainment – Engaging music and stories using the Tonie Box and Yoto Player to inspire imagination without screens.

  • Indoor Play During Bad Weather – Gross motor activities (e.g., Pikler Triangle), music and movement (dance, yoga), and sensory play (painting, building).

Outdoor Activities

Outdoor play is an essential part of our routine, offering physical activity, sensory experiences, and imaginative exploration in a supervised setting.

  • Daily Play Opportunities – Free play, nature discovery, water table fun, and climbing equipment like the Pikler Triangle and swings.

  • Sunscreen & Outdoor Safety - Children should wear sun-protective clothing. Sunscreen will be applied before outdoor play. Water will be provided for children.

  • Weather-Related Adjustments – Outdoor play is adjusted as needed for extreme weather, with warm clothing encouraged in colder months and engaging indoor alternatives always available.

Daily Routine

At Tiny Vines Nursery, we follow a flexible daily routine that balances structured activities with plenty of free play, outdoor exploration, and individualized care. Our routine is designed to provide consistency while remaining adaptable to meet the needs of each child, especially infants who may have their own feeding and sleeping rhythms.

Our Daily Routine:

9:00 AM – Outdoor Time

10:15 AM – Morning Snack

11:00 AM – Nap

1:15 PM – Lunch

2:00 PM – Outdoor Time

Nap & Sleep Routine:

  • Infants follow their individual sleep needs, with naps provided as needed throughout the day. Infants on two naps typically nap around 10:30 AM and 3:00 PM.

  • Toddlers on a one-nap schedule follow the designated nap time around 11:00 AM.

  • Children transitioning from two naps (typically between 12–18 months) are accommodated as needed.

Meals & Snacks:

  • Meals and snacks are provided and meet nutritional guidelines.

  • Parents should inform us of any dietary restrictions, allergies, or special feeding needs.

  • Infants on bottles are fed on demand according to their individual needs or schedules.

Diapering & Hygiene:

  • Diapers are checked and changed as needed throughout the day to ensure comfort and hygiene.

  • Handwashing is practiced regularly, including before meals, after diaper changes, and after outdoor play.

Flexible & Responsive Care:

While we aim to follow this schedule, we remain flexible to ensure that each child’s individual needs are met. Infants and young toddlers gradually transition into a structured routine while receiving responsive, nurturing care. Our goal is to provide a safe, loving, and engaging environment where children thrive at their own pace.
